After two rather tiring days we took it a bit easier today. Just a short 4 km walk around town and across the BAH in BAH HABAH to BAH ISLAND. There is a sand bar connecting Bar Harbor to Bar Island. You can walk across it for about 1.5 hours on either side of low tide. Low tide today was at 2:20 but we went in a bit early to find a parking spot and then wander around town until we could get across.
On the way there we saw that this schooner had been anchored at the beach at high tide and now at low tide they were making some repairs. As it was right beside the highway everyone was stopping for a picture.
We found a space close to the start of the sand bar but it was a bit of a walk from downtown. The parking was pretty full everywhere.
We saw this interesting flower.
We checked out the harbour front with all the restaurants and whale watching cruise docks.
This was the advertisement for the grounded schooner.
There was a nice walkway that went around the point.
And another lighthouse far off in the distance.
We looped back through downtown. It was hot and the ice cream was tempting but we hadn’t even had lunch yet.
BY now it was about 1 pm so we headed across the bar.
And up over the island to a lookout.
We had our lunch staring back at the harbour.
The leetle insects crossing the bar.
Back down to the bar,
Now it was 2:30 and low tide. Lots of people were out checking the tide pools.
The bar got very wide.
And very busy.
Heading back to the RV to relax.
Beautiful flower and quaint harbour!!
