This morning was very grey with lots of dark clouds. The forecast didn’t call for rain but it didn’t look very inviting outside. After lunch it wasn’t quite so threatening so we headed about 15 minutes north of us to Stocking Creek Park. It has a nice short 2.8 km loop trail to a small waterfall.
A few very short ups and downs.
A view of the creek.
Interesting fungus on a tree.
Then down to the viewing platform at the falls.
One picture from there. I had to photoshop out two girls who insisted on standing by the falls, posing (duck face and all) and taking selfies. I waited for a while and then gave up.
Then we went around the fence, just like everyone else, to get closer.
I took another photosphere but I am not happy how it turned out. I think I should have stood a little farther from the falls.

I climbed up the far bank for a slightly different perspective.
Just below me was a nice little cascade.
Onwards. The rest of the loop was not that interesting.
A few flowers.
There were a couple of terrifying creatures that we had to be careful of. One real.
One not so real.
Since we passed through Chemainus to get here, Jennie wanted to stop at a stained glass shop on the way back.
There were some nice pieces but nothing in our price range. Unfortunately, right next door, was a place called Impulse Pizza. We gave in and walked around town again while they got our order ready.
Another mural. The wall is flat.
Some interesting stained glass in a business window.
Why these are there, I have no idea.
We went in to check out Hansel & Gretel’s Candy Co.
The oven, with a setting for children.
And home we go. Needless to say it was an early dinner. We started on the wings in the car.
Love the fungus, banana slug and cascading falls!!!!
