Today we just headed out to the beach in front of the RV park and went north for about 2.5 km, past the tide pools at Point Holmes and almost to Cape Lazo.
It was tough walking on the beach, if you can call it that. It is really just a field of stones.
The sky was really interesting today. When we left the RV all we could see was a grey clouded over sky. Out on the beach, to the south, we could see what I assume are rain clouds billowing below the main cloud deck.
To the north, in the direction we were going, it was rocks off to the horizon but at least it was sunny.
The projection out into the water at the right in the picture above had the tide pools and very slippery rocks.
Lots of sea stars hiding in the nooks and crannies.
With all the seaweed on the rocks, we had to be really careful not to slide off.
And another photosphere.
More strange clouds in the background.
Our feet got a break for a while on a nice sandy section.
We always seemed to be on the edge of the dark and the sunny sky. One minute we would be in the shade and the next in the bright sunshine.
CFB Comox is right behind the beach. A couple of CF-18s screamed into the sky over our heads. They sure are loud.
They flew over some more strangely shaped clouds.
Right at Point Holmes there is a built up boat launch ramp.
The green part is usually under water and is covered in seaweed. It almost looked like carpeting or grass
It was pretty slick even to walk on. There were signs saying that you had to be careful when you launched your boat that you had enough traction to, first, not slide into the water and, second, to get back up off the ramp.
We both slipped and almost fell as we tried to walk down the sides.
Continuing on, we headed towards the cliffs, over another very rocky section.
Time for a sit and a snack.
Jennie collected dinner.
A landing plane passed by close overhead.
Another really strange cloud. It looked like a cylinder projecting downwards.
I went on a bit further by myself.
On the top of a tree at the point there was an eagle surveying his domain.
Looking back towards Jennie and the grey skies.
I went back to get her because there was a huge rose bush cascading down the cliff.
Looking on towards Cape Lazo. By now we had had enough so this was our turnaround point.
We worked our way back under the cliffs and as soon as they were done, climbed up to the nice smooth path beside the road.
Another buzzing by the fighter jets before they landed.
And I’ll finish off with some flowers that we saw beside the road. Morning Glory and Poppy
Great pics of the sunny and cloudy sky! That seaweed covered boat ramp looks beautiful and scary!
