The posts are going to be delayed because of some charging of the laptop problem. I keep blowing fuses.
Another long day.
Here was our campground for the night in Fludir. Just a field where you park anywhere.
When we got up the electric cooler was flashing an error and was getting warm. Then I plugged in my inverter to charge my laptop and that outlet went out. I figured hat we must have blown a fuse but didn’t know where they were or why it blew.
Reluctantly we drove the 1.5 hours back to the campervan office. It was a fuse and once they replaced it and showed me where they were everything was working again. We also grabbed some extra pillows and blankets. Then we made a “quick” stop at Ikea for a small pot and some storage boxes to help us organize this small space.
Whereas yesterday the volcano was only steaming, today we could see actual lava as we drove by.
BY the time we had left Reykjavik it was well past 2 and the GPS said we had an almost 2 hour drive to our destination of Landmannalauger in the central highlands.
In order to not completely waste the day we stopped at the waterfall Haifoss which was only 6 km up a road off of our planned path. The road had some nice views but it was really rough and pot holed.. This shot was taken on the way back with volcano Hella in the background.
Hiafoss.
And another, whose name I don;t know ,was just up the canyon from the same river.
While I was out near the edge
Jennie was safely away looking at flowers.
And The photosphere.
Then back to the highway
The last 20 kilometers are an F road which means rough and only 4 wheel drive allowed.
We did a quick stop at this crater lake.
The photosphere.
Some people were obviously on a phot taking tour, getting shots of these models.
We finally arrived around 6 and parked for the night.
That is us near the center of the above photo.
The area is known for it colourful rhyolite mountains.
The photosphere.
There are some old busses that sell food and we thought about getting dinner but it was way too expensive.
The weather forecast is lousy tomorrow but we hope to do some hiking.
Iceland! The landscape is so otherworldly - wide open and so rugged!!!! Interesting food truck setup!!!
