A short post today.
We drove over to the east side of the lake to hike the Mineral Ridge Trail. It is a 3 mile loop that climbs 600 feet up to the top of the ridge for views of the lake.
The hike was long enough that the climb was gentle but we climbed the south face of the ridge and in the clearings the sun was very hot.
At one time people thought there were valuable metals to be found here. There were lots of holes on the surface as they took samples. A short side trail led to this 10 foot deep “mine” dug into the ridge side. Even this small it was still much cooler inside. I don’t think anyone ever found anything.
We got a good view of the many bays of Lake Coeur D’Alene from the point at the top. Being a Sunday there were boats everywhere. Most people just seem to like to anchor and soak up the sun.
We saw this strange tree on the opposite hill which is actually a disguised antenna.
After a lunch enjoying the view we headed down and just went back to the RV and the air conditioning.
